1. I have not had so many random people come to my door as I have since moving into this house two months ago. Jehovah's Witnesses, salespeople, beggars ... if I'm home while the sun is still up, someone's at my door. Not that I mind, it's just weird. I mean, I've lived in non-gated neighborhoods a number of times in the last three or four years and never until moving here have I dealt with door-to-door solicitation. What I want to know is where are the Mormon missionaries??

2. Get the hell off your cell phones while driving. Oh, I guess that was less an observation than a command. But it was based on my observation driving home that not only are most people in their cars talking on the phone while driving, but they're not paying a sh*t's worth of attention to things like traffic lights, signaling or not running into other cars while doing it. On a side note, nearly every person I know who has been in an accident in the last few years of their fault was on a cell phone at the time of said at-fault accident.*

3. My belly is full. Must mean it's time to start my engines!

* Side observation: They were all female.

Pretty cool. I'll probably do a write-up at VEGASinsight later, so hang tight if you're interested. That's me showing off my best assets, fist and ass, with Jeremy Ginsburg, who used to sell ads at the Las Vegas Weekly, but now ... well, I don't really know what he does. That's the future of Downtown Las Vegas right there. Oh, yeah, sure, it's just 61 acres of dirt right now (and one half-completed Frank Gehry designed building), but in five years, that's going to be the pulsing heart of Las Vegas' cultural, philanthropic and non-gaming business communities.

Or so we all hope.

Thursday night feels like it was yesterday, but according to my calendar, it was four days ago. Before all that booty-shaking I did at Tao later that night, I stopped by the Arts Factory to check out the new exhibit inspired by Matt O'Brien's book Beneath the Neon. Took some pics, wrote some words. Matt gave a shout-out here. You're welcome, old buddy. Thank you.

Spent the rest of the weekend ... um, not doing much. Went out to eat a few times. Mixed songs for As Yet Unbroken that are now on MySpace Music. Slept. Self-hypnotized myself into sleep. Watched Office Space. Nothing big.

On deadline for 944 this week, still, so ... yeah, hang tight. There are at least three cool events this week not counting the usual First Friday madness or Independence Day, so if I can get these stories done, I can actually leave the house!

James and his group of friends were spotted hanging out in the moat VIP section of the nightclub. They were served Grey Goose cocktails and stayed until the early hours of the morning.

Just further proof that I wouldn't know a sports star if he sat on my lap in Tao. Which, for all I know, wasn't that far off.

Back to work. I'm on deadline and seem to behind with a bunch of personal stuff, so keep it real out there, kids.

My (relatively) new band, As Yet Unbroken, is playing its debut gig during Gorilla Productions' Battle of the Bands at Rox Club (5285 Dean Martin Drive) in Las Vegas on Sunday, July 27. What kind of crazy-ass band kicks off its live performance career with a competition? As Yet Unbroken, of course.

More skinny on the band is here: http://www.myspace.com/asyetunbroken. Be our friend, or whatever.

BUT HERE'S THE IMPORTANT THING: We need you to support us at this show on July 27!! As it's a battle of the bands, our success depends on the loud and vocal support of the audience. As well, the show runs from 5 to 11 p.m., but the more tickets we pre-sell, the better time slot we get to pick! So this is where you come in. We've set up a secure, easy PayPal/credit card purchase button on our website for you to buy the $10 tickets from us in advance: http://vegasinsight.net/asyetunbroken/news.html

Not only will you save $2 off the door price, but you'll make us look really good and increase our chances of not only winning the night, but booking future dates with Gorilla Productions. Plus, come on, you know you're dying to see us make asses of ourselves. And what else do you have to do on a Sunday night?

If you're local-like and prefer to hand me cash personally for the tickets, just let me know and next time I see you, I'll be sure to have tickets on me. Actually, I ALWAYS have them with me.

And if you're worried about spending 6 hours at Rox waiting for little ol' us, don't sweat it: We'll make sure we have cell numbers for everyone who says they are coming or buys tickets from us, and when we pick (hopefully) our time slot earlier that day, we'll send out a text to everyone to let them know when we're playing!! Isn't technology wonderful? It sure is!

Thanks in advance for your support and I hope to rock you all on July 27.

Jason has the new iPhone, I have my new Blackjack II. He was touting the iPhone's new features, while I was like, "Um, the BlackJack was already 3G compatible" ... or something. It was really bizarre. So all I have to say is this:

STEVE JOBS F*CK OFF FROM MY DREAMS.

(Unless you are bringing me a new iMac in the morning.)

All right, kids -- it took a few weeks, but I've successfully spread the funds from my economic stimulus payment to six charities: two international, two national and two local. Just sent off the payments to The Shade Tree and Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, two organizations which you enthusiastically supported in the final voting last month.

The ol' band did some more recording this weekend, but just as I was about to start recording drums, I made a judgment error grabbing a wall covered by corrugated sheet metal, and slashed the hell out of my left hand, so I still have to lay down the drum track. Hopefully my hand will be healed enough by next weekend to do so, but even just typing this is kinda hurting. Ow.

At least in this office it is ...

So I rolled out my national charity donations from the ol' "stimulus" payment to Red Cross (for domestic disaster relief) and Covenant House this morning, as per your votes a few weeks back. Thanks for helping spread this money around to those who need it, and by the end of the week, I'll get to the local organizations.

In other news, if you like to look at pictures of bands in the recording studio, then you'll want to click below:

Once again, I take control of the situation and my loyal band mates rebel.
